Does a VPN make me anonymous?
There is no such thing as 100% assured anonymity on the internet, but a VPN does greatly increase your anonymity. It prevents your ISP from seeing what you do online, and since repressive governments rely on ISPs to monitor their customers, it also prevents your government from knowing what you do online.
A VPN also prevents websites you visit from seeing your real IP address. This is the most important way websites can uniquely identify visitors. A VPN won’t block other tracking methods, such as cookies, but Proton VPN’s NetSheild Ad-blocker feature does block many tracking scripts.
